Ramadhaan, the month of Rewards

Rasulullah (saw) Lecture on the last day of Shabaan:
Salmaan  says that on the last day of Shabaan, Rasulullah j spoke us and said: “O People, there comes to you a great month now, a most blessed month,  in  which  is  a  night  greater  in  value  and  goodness  than  a thousand months.  It  is a month  in which Allah  has made  fasting fardh  by  day  and  has made  sunnah  the  Taraweeh  Salaah  by  night.Whosoever wants to be close  to Allah  by doing any good deed, for such  person  shall  be  the  reward  like  the  one who  had  performed  a fardh in any other time and whoever performs a fardh, shall be given
the reward of seventy faraaidh in any other time.”
This  is  indeed  the  month  of  patience  and  the  reward  for  true patience  is Jannah (paradise). It  is the month of showing kindness to everyone. It is the month in which a true believer’s rizq (food, money,
etc.) are increased. Whosoever feeds a fasting person in order to break the  fast  at  iftaar  (sunset),  for  him  there  shall  be  forgiveness  of  sins and freedom from the fire of Jahannam (hell) and he shall receive the
same reward as the fasting person (whom he fed) without the fasting person losing any reward.
Thereupon we  said,  ‘O Messenger  of Allah , not  all  of  us  can afford  to  give  a  fasting  person  something  to  break  his  fast  with.’ Rasulullah j replied, ‘Allah  gives the same reward to the one who
gives  a  fasting  person  to  break  the  fast,  just  one  date  or  a  drink  of water or a sip of milk.’
This  is  a month,  the  first  of which  brings Allah’s  mercy,  the middle of which brings His  forgiveness and  the  last of which brings freedom from the fire of Jahannam.
Whosoever  gives  less work  to  his  servants  or workers  (who  are also  fasting  in  this month), Allah  will  forgive  him  and  free  him from the fire of Jahannam.

How Children can Honour their Parents

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

Children can honour their parents througha  number of ways. And this can be done not only when they are alive but also after their death. And the same information has been given in the Qur’an and the Sunnah. So let us read today what forms of ibadah can a child do for his/her parents while they are living and when they have died?
The rights of parents over their children may be summed up as treating them well in all matters, and behaving with them kindly as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents” [al-Ahqaaf 46:15]
“And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents” [al-‘Ankaboot 29:8]
“but behave with them in the world kindly” [Luqmaan 31:15]
Shaykh al-Sa’di (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “be dutiful and kind to parents” means: treat them kindly in all ways, in word and in deed.
Tafseer al-Sa’di, p. 524.
One of the most important acts of worship that the child is asked to do with regard to his parents is to obey them, to do as they ask and to refrain from what they tell him not to do. So if his father tells him to do something, he hastens to do what he is told, and if he tells him not to do something, he hastens to give it up, so long as that does not involve any disobedience towards Allah and his Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, because there is no obedience to any created being if it involves disobedience towards the Creator.

Importance of Ramadan

Ramadan is the most precious month in the Islamic calendar (Hijri) and it is obligatory for the Muslims to fast in the month of Ramadan. Here are some interesting and quick points that shows the importance of Ramadan in Islam.
  • Allah has made fasting this month the fourth Pillar of Islam
  • Allah revealed the Quran in this month
  • Allah has made Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Decree/Power) in this month, which is better than a thousand months
  • Allah has made fasting Ramadan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins
  • In this month, Allah opens the gates of Paradise and closes the gates of Hell, and chains up the devils
  • Every night Allah has people whom He redeems from the Fire
  • Fasting Ramadan is a means of expiation for the sins committed since the previous Ramadan, so long as one avoids major sins
  • Fasting in Ramadan is equivalent to fasting ten months
  • Whoever prays Qiyaam in Ramadan with the Imaam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer
  • Umra’h in Ramadhaan is equivalent to Hajj
  • It is Sunnah to observe I’tikaaf (retreat for the purpose of worship) in Ramadan
  • It is Mustahabb in the sense of being strongly recommended in Ramadan to study the Quran together and to read it to a great deal
  • It is Mustahabb in Ramadan to offer Iftaar to those who are fasting

O Allah! Let us reach Ramadaan .. (short poem)

Dear Readers, As Salaamu Alaikum!

Ramadan is just a few days away! Let us start preparing for it and make full use of this blessed month. Blessed are those peopl who survive and are able to obtain the benefits of this month. How many people we see that who are living today and enjoying their life today are no more tomorrow, they do not even get a chance to do even one day of fasting.  Presented below is a short poem which prays to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) that we become the fortunate people to reach this month and also do a lot of Ibaadah and fasting in this Holy month and get lots of favours from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). In sha Alllah.

O Allaah! Let us reach Ramadaan!
Allaahumma Ballighnaa Ramadaan!

The Month in which Prophethood was given to Muhammad,
Peace be upon him.
The month in which Quran
was revealed to him.
O Allaah! Let us reach Ramadaan!
Allaahumma Ballighnaa Ramadaan!

The Month in which,
Gates of Heaven are Opened.
The Month in which,
Gates of Hell are Closed.
O Allaah! Let us reach Ramadaan!

The Sunnats Of Eating

1.    To wash both hands up to the wrists
2.    To spread out the dastarkhan (table cloth)
3.    To recite Bismillah

4.To recite this dua when forgetting dua before eating.

 5.    To eat with the right hand (unless you are incapable of)
6.    To eat from that which is in front of you.
If there is a variety of food in the dastarkhan then one could eat whatever one likes. One should
stretch out his hand (in order to get the food) after the other person has drawn his hand back.
7.    To eat with 3 three fingers. This helps to digest the food (scientifically proven) as a result by
eating bit by bit. It is the most efficient method of eating. Eating with five fingers and the palm of
the hand is very un-hygienic and this implies the filling of the stomach by food and the digestive
organs could be blocked, which leads to the human being's death.
8.    To clean the plate, bowl, etc. and to lick the fingers.
9.    To pick up and eat a fallen morsel, and not to leave the same for satan. In this way a person will
find his sustenance in abundance. According to one hadith, the fallen morsel, if taken, become
maihir (dower) for hoouries of the heaven and Allah, the Almighty would keep him and his
off springs safe from leprosy, leucoderma and lunacy.
10.    Not to find fault in food.
11.  Not to blow in food as a result of carbon dioxide been released.
12.  Not to lean while eating.
13.  To read the du'aa after the meals.

14.  To get up after lifting the dastarkhan and to read the du'aa whilst lifting the dastarkhan.
15.  To gargle the mouth.
16.  To wash the hands after eating.
17.  To recite a special du'aa after having iftar (breaking fast) or after having eaten at another
       person's house.

Best wishes

Fasting

Fasting is an act of worship made obligatory for the believers in the 2 AH. It is one of the pillars on which the structure of Islam is erected. Fasting is prescribed to the Muslims in the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the lunar calendar. To Fast or saum, means to abstain from something or to give up something. In the context of the Holy Quran, it means to completely refrain from food, drink and sex from the break of dawn till sunset. The first revelation of the Holy Quran took place in this month. In this regard the Quran says;“Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Quran as a guide to mankind…So everyone of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if anyone is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (should be made up) by days later.” (2:185)
Ramadan is the month of chastity, purity and blessings, in which good flourishes and evil is suppressed. Through fasting, Muslims all over the world reap the rewards of worship in this month and work on their discipline and completion of their obligations. Fasting, like prayer, is a universal religious institution. Its purpose in Islam is not to put the believer in hardship or any sort of torture. It is not just a practice of staying hungry for a certain amount of time. Fasting actually teaches self-restraint, obedience and control. The Quran says; “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you, as it was prescribed to those before you, so that ye may (learn) self-restraint.”(2:183). It teaches a man to be the master of his own desires and will. Fasting also strives to ensure that the follower abstains from sinful acts and wrong doings. A fast which incorporates bickering and quarrelling is merely a fast of food and worth nothing according to Islam. A man observing a fast has to guard his modesty, chastity, purify his soul and abstain from ill doings. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said that fasting was a shield and that the person observing the fast should abstain from falsehood and strongly observes his discipline.
The practice of fasting unites all the Muslims of the world under one banner of Ramadan. It gives them a feeling of brotherhood and togetherness as this act of worship is observed unanimously all across the globe. Fasting helps the soul, the mind and also the body of
the believer. It gives the digestive system a break from the hectic routine that it follows all around the year. Overall, the blessings and rewards obtained through fasting are numerous. The importance of fasting in the life of a believer is immense not just to
cleanse his soul, but also to abstain from ill doings and learn self-restraint.

Best wishes

Say Thanks to Allah .. (Short Story)

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

Let us read one short story:

A man reached 70 years of age and he faced a disease; he could not urinate. The doctors informed him that he was in need of an operation to cure this disease. He agreed to have the operation done as the problem was giving him much pain for days. When the operation was completed, his doctor gave him the bill which covered all the costs. The old man looked at the bill and started to cry. Upon seeing this the doctor told him that if the cost was too high then they could make some other arrangements. The old man said “I am not crying because of the money but I am crying because Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) let me urinate for 70 years and He never sent me a bill.”

…and if you try to count the blessings of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala), never will you be able to count them… Surah Ibrahim

Traps of Satan for women on the Web

Dear Readers, As Salaamu Alaikum!
ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

The Internet remains the first ever outlet for advocates of true causes and meritorious values, so as to disseminate their knowledge, manners and benefits, at a time when the global media is mostly dominated by evil.
Naturally, though, the Web houses religious, intellectual and didactic trends from all over the world. No distinction is made in terms of available opportunities, except in accordance with [Internet users’] personal efforts, drive and financial capability.
Therefore, righteous scholars, students and male and female callers to Islam have set out to utilize the Internet. As such, they seek and propagate knowledge, and invite others to Islam through it, hoping for reward from Allah The Almighty. On their part, righteous women have made great contributions, which are collectively appreciated.
However, humans will be humans and they have innate dispositions and tendencies that cannot be altered, except with strenuous efforts and a constant struggle. [In light of this, we will mention] one of the major obstacles and greatest risks to the process of Da‘wah (call to Islam), which threatens to destroy all the hard work done for Islam and [its] knowledge, perhaps even giving rise to a moral degeneration. This is [the danger of] men and women, as two sexes with inherent mutual attraction, having the chance to form relationships with one another. Boys will be boys, and girls will be girls, regardless of their honest tendencies and sound intentions.

The Good Husband .. (Short Story)

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!
ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!
Today we will share with you a short story which will help us understand how important it is not to complain and be Thankful to what we get in our lives.

There was a man who loved his wife very much. The couple had 3 children. He could give her everything he could but the woman never appreciated. Though the man was not rich, he would share all that he had with her. He could buy for her clothes and the only thing his wife could say was that the husband was fulfilling his duty as a Man. The man would buy a dress but in reply, the woman would mock at him, because the dress was of low quality. The man would smile at his wife and tell her "one day, I will become rich and I will buy for you all the expensive things you need". The woman could never make any phone call unless she was requesting anything from her husband and once her request was not granted, all she could do was to quarrel for days, sometimes fight. One evening, the man was coming from work, he bought a Kilogram of meat, happily the poor man expecting to surprise his wife, he reached home found the wife and showed her the package. Then she shouted: "eh! And you call yourself a man? Which husband, apart from you, do you think comes home with just one kilogram, no cooking oil, and no other ingredients? You better leave it, you're a good-for-nothing husband." Then she threw the meat in the bush and went back home. The Husband felt low but he never let down his love for her.

Masjid aqsa and dome of the rock

Dear Readers, Assalam o Alaikum!
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
'Bayt ul-Muqaddas' (or literally the Holy House) and the 'Masjid al-Aqsa' (or literally the farthest Mosque) are two names of the same Masjid which was originally built in Jerusalem by the Noble Prophet of Allah (saws), Hadrat Sulaimaan ibn Dawood (a.s.).
Ref: Qubbat as Sakhra or Dome of the Rock
The 'rock' over which the 'Dome of the Rock' is built was considered 'holy' by the People of the Book before the Revelation of the Glorious Quran and the advent of the Prophet Mohamed (saws). Jews erroneously believed, and still believe, the 'rock' to be the place where Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.) prepared to sacrifice his second-born son Ishaaq (a.s.), whereas the Truth is confirmed by Allah Subhanah in His Glorious Quran that Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.) did not prepare to sacrifice his second-born son and Prophet Ishaaq (a.s.) in Jerusalem, but rather it was his first-born son and the Prophet Ismail (a.s.) who was prepared for sacrifice under the Command and guidance of the Lord Most High in Makkah.

Shabe-e-Meraaj: An Important Day

Dear Readers, As Salaamu Alaikum!

On the occasion of Shab-e-Meraaj, we have compiled some information for you on the same topic.

The word Meraaj (Ascent) of Prophet Muhammad (Salallaahu Alaihi Wassallam) is derived from "Urooj", which means, "height", "ascension". It occurs in Hadith. The Qur'anic word for the event is "Israa", meaning "the journey". The event is briefly mentioned in the Qur'an, its detailed provided by Hadiths. Taken from Qur'an and Hadiths the essential details of the event (with necessary explanation and discussions) are as follows:

The Heart Operation:  Archangel Jibriel (AS) alongwith two other angels visited the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Salallaahu Alaihi Wassallam) one night, while he was asleep in the Hateem part of Kaabah (in Makkah). The angel then operated upon his heart and made some changes probably because the material body could not withstand the space travel with the required velocity without certain protection. The related part of the narration reads; "... Jibriel (AS) among them took upon himself to make a cut from the throat down to a part below the heart of the Prophet (Salallaahu Alaihi Wassallam) till he emptied the chest and the stomach. Then with his hands he washed it with Zamzam water till the stomach was cleaned. Then was brought a golden tray in which was a golden light filled with faith and wisdom. Pouring it inside, the chest and the veins of throat were filled up. Then the opened part was closed..." (Bukhari)

Preparing for Ramadaan

Dear Readers, As Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

Imagine!
Someone really, really important is coming to visit you. Surely, you would cook, clean, shop, prepare and plan everything for them, well ahead of time. You would make sure they are comfortable and well taken care of. You would ascertain that everything is perfectly ready and adequately in place before they arrive.
Now imagine someone coming to visit you that is even more important than that....more precious, more valuable, more honorable. Wouldn't you prepare even more and give it the best you got?
Well, the best month of the year, the most blessed and most precious, is coming up. The month that brings the fragrance of Jannah and the sweetness of Imaan.... the tears of Taubah and the forgiveness of your Lord. And it's bringing with it a night that is equivalent in worship and reward, to more than a thousand months.
Wouldn't you want to prepare for that?
Wouldn't you want to be ready for it with all your heart and soul so that you don't miss this great opportunity?
They say the more prepared you are for something, the easier it is for you to handle it and the greater the chances that you will be successful at it.
And what better opportunity to prepare for something than preparing for the blessed month of Ramadhaan.
This is a month of Rahmah and Barakah, a month of taubah and istighfaar, a great opportunity for training oneself... to give up your bad deeds and build on your good ones.
So what to do?

Is Your Home an Islamic Home?

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!
This may seem like an unusual question and your automatic response may be "Why, of course my home is an Islamic Home!! My family is Muslim and that makes our home a Muslim one!!"Go through this short checklist to determine if your response should really be in the affirmative.

I Have Chosen a Good Spouse

There are several ahadeeth that highlight the importance of choosing a righteous and pious spouse. The wisdom of this is obvious: a pious spouse is more likely to bring happiness and contentment to the other spouse and the couple together will be more able to build a righteous family and home life. This is the foundation of the home.

I Help Guide My Spouse
This begins with each spouse fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of their roles and treating each other with kindness and compassion. It then goes beyond this to include guidance in other spiritual matters such as:
  • striving to strengthen imaan;
  • paying attention to worship and correcting it when needed;
  • encouraging the reading of Qu’ran,
  • praying at night,
  • giving charity,
  • reading books on Islam;
  • helping to choose pious friends;
  • enjoining goodness and forbidding evil.
Emaan is something that may increase or decrease so it is necessary to continually focus on increasing our own and that of our spouse.

Hijaab for Men and Hijaab for Women

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!
ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

-------------------
Hijaab for men
-------------------

Islam has a system of hijaab. The Glorious Qur’an first mentions hijaab for the men and then for the women. Hijaab for the men is mentioned in the following verse:

"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do."

[Al-Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

--------------------
Hijaab for women
--------------------

Hijaab for women is mentioned in the following verse:

"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons...."
[Al-Qur’an 24:31]

The extent of hijaab for a woman is that her complete body should be covered. The only part that can be seen, are the face and the hands up to the wrists. If they wish to cover, they can even cover these parts of the body. However some Islamic scholars insist that even the face should be covered.

Abolish Arrogance – Takabur

Dear Readers, As Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

Let us read the following verses:
4:36 Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious;
4:173 But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them
7:48 The men on the heights will call to certain men whom they will know from their marks, saying:“Of what profit to you were your hoards and your arrogant ways?
7:146 Those who behave arrogantly on the earth in defiance of right -- them will I turn away from My signs: Even if they see all the signs, they will not believe in them; and if they see the way of right conduct, they will not adopt it as the way; but if they see the way of error, that is the way they will adopt. For they have rejected our signs, and failed to take warning from them.
31:18  “And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.
16:22 Your Allah is one Allah. as to those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant.
16:29  “So enter the gates of Hell, to dwell therein. Thus evil indeed is the abode of the arrogant.”
40:27 Moses said: “I have indeed called upon my Lord and your Lord (for protection) fromevery arrogant one who believes not in the Day of Account!”
40:35  “(Such) as dispute about the Signs of Allah, without any authority that hath reached them, grievous and odious (is such conduct) in the sight of Allah and of the Believers. Thus doth Allah, seal up every heart -- of arrogant and obstinate Transgressors.”
40:47 Behold, they will dispute with each other in the Fire! The weak ones (who followed) will say to those who had been arrogant, “We but followed you: Can ye then take (on yourselves) from us some share of the Fire?
40:60 And your Lord says: “Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell -- in humiliation!”
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “One will not enter Paradise, if one has an atom’s weight of arrogance in his heart.” (Muslim)

The above verses and the mentioned Hadith are enough reasons for us to abolish arrogance. The verses and the Hadith clearly state that there is no place for an arrogant person in the sight of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. So as believers we must remove this arrogance and pride from our hearts.  And how can we do that:
Know Allah

Ways of protecting oneself from nightmares and disturbing dreams

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!
ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

Most of us get nightmares and disturbing dreams, but little do we know what can be done about them or how we can avoid them. In today’s e-mail, let us see how can we cure nightmares ?
1.  Dreams that disturb a person and keep him awake come from the Shaytaan.  In general, the dreams that people see are either good dreams which come from Allah, a reflection of things which a person is thinking about, or a third type, which are dreams that come from the Shaytaan.
It was reported from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
“Towards the end of time, hardly any dreams that the Muslim sees will not come true. The one whose dreams are the most truthful will be the one whose speech is the most honest. The dreams of the Muslim form one of the forty-five parts of Prophecy. Dreams are of three types: the good dream which is good news from Allah; dreams which cause distress, which come from the Shaytaan; and dreams concerning matters which a person is thinking about…”  [Narrated by Muslim, 2263]

Causes that make ghusl a must

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!
ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

Today we will mention the conditions when ghusl is compulsory. The causes that make ghusl a must are:
1. The emission of semen, because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "What requires water (ghusl) is if you see water (i.e., semen) coming out of you." (Reported by Muslim, no. 1/269)
2. Contact between the genitals, because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "If one part enters the other part (in another report: if one part touches the other part), then ghusl becomes obligatory." (Reported by Ahmad and Muslim, no. 526) This ghusl is obligatory whether or not fluid (semen) is released. "touching" here refers to the entry of the tip of the penis into the vagina, not mere touching.
3. Menstruation and nifaas (post-natal bleeding), because Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): ". . . And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah has ordained for you. . ." [al-Baqarah 2:222]; and because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said to Faatimah bint Hubaysh, may Allah be pleased with her: "When your period starts, stop praying, and when your period ends, perform ghusl then start praying again." (Reported by al-Bukhari, Fath, 309)
4. Death: the dead - apart from a martyr slain in battle - must be washed (ghusl), because when his daughter Zaynab died, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Wash her with water three or five times, or as many times as you see fit" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 1175); and when a man who was in a state of ihraam was killed by his riding-beast, he said: "Wash him with water and lotus leaves and wrap him in his two garments, but do not embalm him or cover his head, for he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection pronouncing the Talbiyah." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fath, 1186)
There are other types of ghusl about which the scholars differed as to whether they are obligatory, such as performing ghusl on Fridays
There are types of ghusl which are encouraged, such as: ghusl on the two Eids; ghusl after washing a dead body; ghusl before entering the state of ihraam or entering Makkah; ghusl for a woman who is suffering from istihaadah (abnormal non-menstrual bleeding) before every prayer; ghusl after being unconscious; and ghusl after burying a mushrik. (Tamaam al-Minnah by al-Albaani, p. 120).

The Mummy of Pharoah

As Salaamu Alaikum!

One of the most intriguing predictions made by Quran concerns a Pharaoh of Egypt, called Merneptah, who was the son of Rameses II. According to historical records, this king was drowned in pursuit of Moses in the Red Sea. When the Quran was revealed, the only other mention of Pharaoh was in the Bible, the sole reference to his having drowned being in the Book of Exodus; ‘And the waters returned, and covered the Chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharoah that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them’.

Amazingly, when this was all the world knew about the drowning of Pharaoh, the Quran produced this astounding revelation: ‘We shall save you in your body this day, so that you may become a sign to all posterity.

How extraordinary this verse must have appeared when it was revealed. At that time no one knew that the Pharaoh’s body was really intact, and it was nearly 1400 hundred years before this fact came to light. It was a Professor Loret who, in 1898, was the first person to find the mummified remains of the Pharaoh who lived in Moses’ day. For 3000 years the corpse had remained wrapped in a sheet in the Tomb of the Necropolis at Thebes where Loret had found it, until July 8, 1907, when Elliot Smith uncovered it and subjected it to proper scientific examination. In 1912, he published a book, entitled The Royal Mummies. His research had proved that the mummy discovered by Loret was indeed that of the Pharaoh who ‘knew Moses, resisted his pleas, pursued him as he took flight, lost his life in the process. His earthly remains were saved by the will of Allah from destruction to become a sign to man, as is written in the Quran.

The Virtue of Sleeping in Wudhoo(Ablution)

 As Salaamu Alaikum!

Why is it important that when you go to bed, you should perform your ablutions (wudhoo)?

Ammaa Ba’d:

Upon the authority of Ibn Umar -Radhiyallahu ‘Anhumaa -who said that the Messenger – Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Was Salam Said:

“Purify these Bodies (of yours), May Allah grant you purity, for indeed there is not a servant that spends the night in a state of purification except that an angel spends the night with him in his hair. He does not turn at anytime during the night except that the angel says: “Oh Allah forgive your servant for indeed he spent the night in a state of purity!”

(Collected by Imaamut Tabaraani in ‘Mu’jam al Kabeer (13620) and declared ‘Hasan’ by shaikh Al Albaani in ‘Saheehul Jaami’ (3936))

Upon the authority of Ibn Umar – Radhiyallahu ‘Anhumaa who said that the messenger -Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Was Salam said:

12 Ways to Deal with Bad Temper.. (Part 2)

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

Anger is one of the evil whispers of Shaytaan, which leads to so many evils and tragedies, of which only ALLAH knows their full extent. For this reason Islam has a great deal to say about this bad characteristic, and the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) described cures for this "disease" and ways to limit its effects which have been mentioned in this topic.
There are 12 easy ways to control temper. Yesterday in our e-mail, we mentioned 6 ways to control Bad Temper. Today in this mail, we will mention the remaining 6 ways.

(..continued from our e-mail yesterday..)

(7) Following the Prophet’s example in the case of anger:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is our leader and has set the highest example in this matter, as is recorded in a number of ahaadeeth. One of the most famous was reported by Anas, may ALLAH be pleased with him, who said: "I was walking with the Messenger of ALLAH (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), and he was wearing a Najraani cloak with a rough collar. A Bedouin came and seized him roughly by the edge of his cloak, and I saw the marks left on his neck by the collar. Then the Bedouin ordered him to give him some of the wealth of ALLAH that he had. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) turned to him and smiled, then ordered that he should be given something." (Agreed upon. Fath al-Baari, 10/375)

The Quran and Hadiths on the poor and needy

Dear Readers, As Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS !!

Zakaat is one of the pillars of Islam. It is obligatory on all the Muslims to spend on the poor and needy. This should be done entirely for the sake of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and not to “show off”. Zakaat is one of the best ways to purify yourself and also to help safeguard you from the evils.
The importance of Zakaat has been mentioned several times in the Qur’an and the Hadiths. So let us read more on it.

1. The Quran
Attitude of the giver of charity
Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and do not follow up their spending by stressing their benevolence and causing hurt, will find their reward secure with their Lord. They have no cause for fear and grief.

To speak a kind word and to forgive people's faults is better than charity followed by hurt.Allah is All-Sufficient, All-Forbearing
Believers! Do not nullify your acts of charity by stressing your benevolence and causing hurt as does he who spends his wealth only to be seen by men and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. The example of his spending is that of a rock with a thin coating of earth upon it: when a heavy rain smites it, the earth is washed away, leaving the rock bare; such people derive no gain from their acts of charity. Allah does not set the deniers of the Truth on the right way. (2:262 - 264)

10 TIPS ON HOW TO CONCENTRATE DURING SALAAT (PRAYERS)

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!

Salah is a sort of programming towards righteousness, that we are programmed towards righteousness. And the requirement [is] that it should be repeated [a] minimum [of] 5 times a day. For example for a very healthy body, a doctor will tell you, you require [a] minimum [of] 3 meals a day. Similarly for a spiritual soul, a person is required to offer Salah 5 times a day. And the requirement is, [that] there are chances that because of the evil in the society around us, we may get de-programmed. So if we are kept on being re-programmed, there are more chances that you will remain [steadfast on the] Sirat al mustaqeem, on the straight path. Therefore it is compulsory that every Muslim should offer Salah [a] minimum [of] 5 times a day.

However, Salaah may turn pointless or unconstructive if you do not concentrate in it. What is the point praying when your mind is drifting somewhere else and you cannot concentrate on what you the Imaam is saying in the prayer ?

How to Handle Burdens

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!
We all have stress and burdens in our daily lives. Whether it is school or work or just the trials of life, we carry much on our shoulders. Some of us carry our own loads and some of us carry loads that we share with others, such as health problems, personal family issues, financial dilemmas, marital discord, employment troubles, and the list could go on. These burdens that we bear can be heavy. In fact, most of us may say that at one time or another, these burdens are too hard to bear.
But, in the Quran, chapter 2, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala promises us that we will never have to carry a burden that is greater than what we can bear. So why do we feel then that the burden is too heavy for us to carry? Why do we feel as if we had the weight of the entire world on our shoulders and as if we had more than our share of worries and woes?
We feel this way not because of the weight of the burden, but rather the way we carry it.
Bend at the knees
When we physically carry heavy loads in our arms, we are always told to `bend at the knees' to avoid breaking our backs and injuring our necks. There is great wisdom in ensuring that something is sincerely done in our own best interest, and not just done as a task that we want to get rid of. Likewise, a burden that is carried with little or no care or concern for our own well-being does not make much sense. In a short amount of time, one would `burn out' and be of much less use to the same people that we were intending to help in the first place. So, a burden carried on our shoulders should be carried with care as well, otherwise it could similarly become a `pain in the neck'. In other words, a burden on its own is not such a pain but a mere responsibility; but a burden that is not carried well becomes a pain, a hassle that one harbors reluctantly.

2. Easing matters for those in hardship:

Ten Useless Matters

Dear Readers, As  Salaamu Alaikum!

Imam Ibn ul Qayyim al Jawziyyah has mentioned ten useless matters on which we indulge in and not utilize it or gain benefit in this world or the next. Read these points and examine yourself if any of this relates to you.
Ten useless matters are:
1 - Knowledge that is not acted on
2 - The deed that has neither sincerity nor is based on following the righteous examples of others
3 - Money that is hoarded, as the owner neither enjoys it during this life nor obtains any reward for it in the Hereafter
4 - The heart that is empty of love and longing for Allah, and of seeking closeness to Him
5 - A body that does not obey and serve Allah
6 - Loving Allah without following His orders or seeking His pleasure
7 - Time that is not spent in expiating sins or seizing opportunities to do good
8 - A mind that thinks about useless matters
9 - Serving those who do not bring you close to Allah, nor benefit you in your life
10 - Hoping and fearing whoever is under the authority of Allah and in His hand; while he cannot bring any benefit or harm to himself, nor death, nor life; nor can he resurrect himself.

However the greater of these matters are wasting the heart and wasting time. Wasting the heart is done by preferring this worldly life over the Hereafter, and wasting time is done by having incessant hope.  Destruction occurs by following one’s desires and having incessant hope, while all goodness is found in following the right path and preparing oneself to meet Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.
How strange it is that when a servant of Allah has a [worldly] problem, he seeks help of Allah, but he never asks Allah to cure his heart before it dies of ignorance, neglect, fulfilling one’s desires and being involved in innovations.  Indeed, when the heart dies, he will never feel the significance or impact of his sins
To conclude: Let us read (translation of) Surah Asr
  • By time,
  • Indeed, mankind is in loss,
  • Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
With Best Wishes
